I’ve spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure out how to create a solution for the forum that provides rapid responses, similar to WhatsApp, while also archiving conversations. There are two solutions that may work for you. One is purely email-based, and the other involves an app.
Both of these require changing your notification settings. A while ago, I published an article on how to subscribe to posts so that you receive an email every time someone posts. This is very similar to WhatsApp, and you’re likely to receive only a handful of emails per week.
What’s different now is that you can reply to the email with your response, which will be posted to the forum.
Please see How to receive instant notifications for every post for instructions on how to change your notification levels.
The other option is to use the DiscourseHub app. Discourse is the software that the forum is based on. This allows you to subscribe to various forums, and it will notify you when updates occur (based on the notification level you selected above).
The Apple version is available here: Discourse Hub on the App Store
The Android version is available here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.discourse&hl=en_ZA&gl=US&pli=1
After you install it, you will want to add KnysnaYachtOwners.org to your forum list.
I hope that people find this to be a good alternative to WhatsApp, because there’s a lot of good information that we need to archive.
