Yanmar VC10 hang up

Hello, i have a VC10 Yanmar on my sailboat, the instrument is always showing a service alarm for trasmission, but unfortunatly is impossibile to make any operation, all functions / buttons are ignored.

I suppose the connections are ok, if instrument show the alarm means has been received from ecu….., any button i press i hear the beep, but nothin happen, this said me the button are working, but nothing happen. I have asked to Yanamr service, they come on baord to check, after some checking they said i need to reaplace the unit (they change it and the new one is working). Seem very unusual and inappropiate, other than very expensive. I have this error from oen year when i buy the used boat. My opinion is a sw issue / version not compatible with ecu, but is just an idea. Any suggestion to solve this issue other then change the unit ?

Yanmar VC10 Service Mode - Service Alarm

[FB_IMG_1733775991773] To reset the engine service “alarm” hour counter, you have to enter service mode which is password protected - the password is not readily available, no doubt to increase us needing “Yanmar” technicians… On the VC10 engine control open the menu and go to the “Alarms/Diags” sub menu. Thank you, i know this procedure, but screen is hang up on alarm message, no menù are avallable.

Any button cause a beep, nothing more. No functions / menù….
