there are several hatches on our 500 which are preported to be water tight and are not. these include the life raft door, both sugar scoop covers and the fuel and water covers. i remove several to 10s of liters of sea water from the fuel and water compartments after any heavy seas. In front of the fuel tank is a captive pocket which holds several liters. i bought a hand pump to empty it. i ave adjusted the latches and added additional gasket with only minor success. our life raft cavity fills up with fresh water (about 8 cm deep) in heavy rain
We treat the forward lockers as “wet” lockers, the seals do stop a lot of the water but are far from perfect.
However, we don’t get any build up of water anywhere in the lockers. But your issue does remind me of a problem we had with the anchor locker drainage.
During commissioning a “Knysna” rubber mat was thoughtfully placed under the chain to protect the floor of the locker from damage from the chain.
Unfortunately the back of these mats are smooth rubber and covered the drain point, with the weight of chain on it it makes a very good seal and retains any water in the locker.
We only identified this because I forgot the hose when I was filling the water tanks and flooded the compartment.
That is bad enough - but - this same drain is the gas drain for the gas locker. And ultimately that is a critical safety issue. If it is blocked there is no way for the gas to dissipate by gravity and it will fill the locker (I believe there is then a route to inside the boat via the big cooling fan for the electronics cupboard).
Our solution was to replace the mat under the chain with a style that cannot block either water or gas. We used an “old style” rubber block doormat.
