I would appreciate hearing from those of you who cruise with pets. Is there available vet care in the Bahamas and beyond? I know PR would not be a problem but in the Bahamas everything seems scarce.
Also , if you have had experiences with entry issues and requirements, I would appreciate that info also. We might be heading to Cancun , so Mexican vet entry info would also be appreciated.
Any tips about dog life at sea would be helpful. We have a 3 year old Lagotto and missed her so much last year the we are contemplating bring her with us this year.
There is an Isla Mujeres Cruisers Net Facebook page that can provide you with current information on what you need to enter Mexico with a pet. You will also need a TIP (Temporary Import Permit) for your boat. The group is a wealth of information. If you are headed to Belize, we can help you, as we have spent years cruising in that area.
many thanks
We will contact them. Just trying to make a good decision about bringing our dog. Want her to have a good time too and never want her in jeopardy, especially with foreign governments,
Having dogs and cats onboard is challenging, but many cruisers have them in Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. Our friends used to travel with their dog to Mexico, and it was just getting the vet check done on their timeline that was the challenge. Good Luck
