There are times when I am unfurling our screecher and, before the top is about 80% completely unfurled, the bottom of the sail starts furling — so the top is opening while the bottom is closing.
After some research (and learning), I discovered that the bearings in the top-down furler were frozen. With a bit of Harken OneDrop and a soft mallet, I was able to free them, and the top-down furler now performs as expected.
