We recently had our fresh water outlet on the front deck start leaking. We are currently plugged in to shore-water whilst we are “stuck” in Tahiti - so we didn’t hear pumps running etc. It was only when we saw the funky growth under the boat that we realised what was happening.
We have had the same issue with other salt & fresh outlets so it appears to be systematic and likely to occur on other boats too.
I undid the screws and disconnected the water pipe - JG Speedfit - using a blanking piece and then hit the hardest part of the job - the unit was stuck in with 5200 and the hole was very tight. I got it to start moving 1/10th of a mm at a time. After an hour or so I got the unit out without breaking it…
It all looks like one piece - but it isn’t. The big plastic hex nut is a locking ring - but the one to undo is the central threaded block with the 90 degree bend. You will find you can then get to the metal fitting that goes through the middle - it has a couple of flats for you to hold with a wrench. Once you have undone that you get to the fibre ring that seals the unit.
I added a few wraps of PTFE tape but thats probably not necessary given the sealing ring. Clean up and reassemble - making sure the ring seal is nice and tight.
As you reassemble the front face position is screwed in to make it flush - and the water inlet on the back is pointing in the right direction before the big lock nut is done up.
Then its just a case of putting it back in and reconnecting the JG Speedfit.
The outlets are made by Nuova Rade - links below.
