I’ve lived with Imperial fasteners all of my life, but am fully welcoming transitioning to metric parts. I’m in the process of designing some parts to be 3D printed, but I’ve realized that I don’t know what metric sizes are commonly used to constructing things.
For example, I commonly use 1/4"-20tpi, 3/8"-16tpi, etc. What are the common metric diameters/threads which are used?

Metric bolts tend to go in even numbers - so on the boat you see M4, M6, M8, M10 a lot. Odd numbers do occur but much less frequently.
The most common spanners required are 10mm, 13mm and 19mm.
With “Allen key” (hex key) , the common sizes on a boat are 6mm, 8mm.
Always check if you have a Phillips screw or Posi-Drive.
Whilst KYC use mainly metric but it does depend a bit on where the components are sourced from - so no guarantees…
