The back cushions are attached above the seat cushion, with a gap on the latest 500 models. I think it’s attached with a bolt rope, if Cazco did them. Do you like or dislike this? Do they fall down or sag?
On our old boat, the back cushion went all the way down to the seat cushion and was attached with snaps. I am leaning towards this as it is a nice, clean look.
We have the bolt rope on ours and really like it. It does not get snagged with a SailRite snap at the bottom. But ours does sag, not because of the bolt rope, but that for some reason, the top cushion does not have enough firm foam in it. The bottom does, just not the top. Carolyn will be replacing the foam in ours soon. If I did this again, I’d go with the bolt rope.
We are hull #104 and have bolt ropes for the seat cushions but snaps for the backs. This works well. No sagging at all, and I doubt we will as the backs have rigid backing. So far no issues with the snaps. All good. Caspar is a hoot! Very sweet. He also makes beanbags for the foredeck, but as his lead time was too long for us he was very kind to order the fabric and provide us with patterns to sew our own. Definitely worthwhile as we do enjoy lounging around on them.
Thank you for the information, and yes, Casper is a character. We met with him yesterday, and he is now working on beanbag chairs for us. Great idea, as I was going to buy them when we arrived in the US, but now we have them for the trip.
Since we are a new design, I think we will have a combination of attachment hardware. My only request yesterday was that everything be removable, so we can easily reupholster things if and when needed.
I total agree about things being removable - if I had realised so many of our cushions would be fitted with 5200 I would have had a serious sense of humour failure…
